I’m pretty sure that I’m not the only person who is feeling like this. If it came out not too soon after the initial release in KR then yeah it would have been cool and well hyped. But after all these years with all kind of combat system and other stuff that the world has to offer, it just isn’t as special anymore as it would have been ages ago. We just have so many other cool titles that we are looking forward to and looking back to the older titles that we used to hype just doesn’t make too much sense.
Will I give it a try? Probably yeah, but won’t have too much expectations brought with me on that. Who knows, I might surprise myself and turns out into my another long term game but that’s quite unlikely to happen.
Never put too much thought on why are they releasing it so late, nor am I too interested on it anyways. Blade n Soul wasn’t ever a title which would make me go thinking like “GOD I MUST TRY THIS NOW”. They probably had other stuff to focus on, might have thought that games like these might not suit the western audience etc. -shrugs- Doesn’t really matter at this point.
Also, the problem you described happens in almost any MMO. Kill X monsters, Pick up X things, Take a miniboss down to X health and use an item on it… quests super common in MMOs.
I’m still hyped the game is actually coming out after so long. As you pointed out, the combat is fantastic and the game looks amazing despite being a 2012 game. TERA was my favorite mmo for along time, so BnS will be nice to transition into while waiting on other MMOs. Lastly, BnS already has a couple years of optimizations and content built into the NA release. Placed aside some half-made “Beta” MMOs that are available now, BnS is my game to play when it is released.
The combat is absurdly good, the pvp is some of the most intense of any MMORPG ive played, pvp is a big focus in the game, 1v1 arena, bg’s, open world pvp. Then it has cool different type of endgame like Tower of Mushin, where you climb a tower and you kill bosses, each level gets Blade-Soul Gold. Just minor things like that makes it pretty cool but i dont see it beeing a game people will play for years. But yea out of all MMORPG’s im waiting for black desert the most.
